About this program
The Society for the Anthropology of Food and Nutrition offers the Thomas Marchione Food-as-a-Human-Right Student Award to support and recognize student research addressing food security, food justice, food sovereignty, and food as a human right. The award provides a $750 cash prize and one-year memberships in the American Anthropological Association and SAFN, and may support proposed, ongoing, or completed research. Current MA, MS, or PhD students in any field who will have completed their coursework and research proposal by March 31, 2026, are eligible; submitted papers may be under consideration for publication but cannot be in revision or accepted. Applications must include a four-page proposal, research design and budget, career-development statement, and CV, submitted to the SAFN Award Committee by March 31, 2026.
