Timothy Murray Graduate Travel Grants

About this program

The Society for the Humanities offers Timothy Murray Graduate Travel Grants of up to $1,500 to support travel-related research for post-A-exam graduate students in the humanities, funding activities taking place July 2026–June 2027. Applicants must have completed their A‑exam prior to the proposed trip (preference to post‑A‑exam doctoral students) and may not have received Timothy Murray funds within the previous academic year (preference for those without awards in the past two years). International or "elevated risk" travel requires contacting Graduate School Student Services and registering travel (a petition may be required) and funds will not be released until travel approval is obtained; applications may be submitted before approval. Submit a single PDF with proposal title, CV, 1‑page dissertation abstract, 1–3 page research plan, brief budget, and A‑exam date by the Spring 2026 deadline (TBD), and have your committee chair send a brief letter of recommendation to Durba Ghosh c/o Amanda Brockner (alb448@cornell.edu).
