Travel Grants

About this program

The Medieval Academy of America offers travel grants to help Academy members who hold PhDs (with possible exceptions for unaffiliated or contingent scholars active in Medieval Studies) cover costs of presenting papers at conferences, providing awards up to $500 for travel within North America and up to $750 for overseas travel. Applications are due May 1 for meetings held Sept. 1–Feb. 15 and Nov. 1 for meetings held Feb. 16–Aug. 31, with priority given to major national and international meetings. Applicants must be current members, lack access to institutional travel funding, and normally provide evidence that the paper will be presented (initial applications may be submitted before formal acceptance). Grants are limited to one award per applicant in any three‑year period.
