About this program
Google Research is offering Trust, Safety, Security & Privacy Research Awards—unrestricted gifts up to $100K USD to support roughly one year of research across disciplines (e.g., computer science, law, public policy, social sciences) on topics such as scams and financial fraud, protecting at‑risk groups, frameworks and taxonomies, and digital/AI literacy; proposals centered on frontier AI should be submitted to a different call. Eligible applicants are faculty (assistant/associate/full) at degree‑granting universities or research institutions; applicants may serve as PI or co‑PI on only one proposal per round, with a maximum of two PIs per proposal, and projects must be related to computing or technology. Review prioritizes collaborative, cross‑country or multidisciplinary teams, strong faculty and research merit, and alignment with Google’s AI Principles; funds are disbursed as unrestricted gifts (not for indirect costs) and, for multi‑institution projects, may be distributed to at most two institutions.
