About this program

UK Node of Euro-BioImaging, supported by UKRI (BBSRC and MRC) and administered via the Royal Microscopical Society, offers a User Access Fund to enable UK researchers to use biological imaging technologies and image-analysis services across UK and partner Euro-BioImaging sites. Grants provide up to £5,000 (100% FEC) for bioimaging hardware access or up to £2,000 for image analysis, covering facility/instrument time, data scientist time, consumables, travel, sample shipment and other justified costs, with payment made after completion and a mandatory post-access survey. Eligible applicants are UKRI-eligible academic research organisations only (industry excluded), limited to one funded application per applicant per year, with priority given to PhD students, research technical professionals, junior postdocs and early-stage PIs. Applicants must agree feasibility, costs and timelines with the chosen host facility before submission; applications are accepted rolling and reviewed quarterly, projects must start within six months and awards are conditional on meeting the Fund’s terms.
