About this program
The Universities Space Research Association (USRA) awards up to five one-time undergraduate scholarships each fall to students pursuing careers in science or engineering, with emphasis on space research, space science education, and aeronautics-related sciences. Scholarships are donation-funded; named awards (e.g., Thomas R. McGetchin, John R. Sevier, James B. Willett, Frederick A. Tarantino, Judith L. Pipher) are one-time $5,000 prizes. Eligible applicants are full-time undergraduates at four-year accredited colleges or universities offering science or engineering degrees who will be within two years of earning a B.S. or B.A. in a relevant field when the award is received; applications are accepted in the summer and awarded in the fall (applications for 2026 open June 2026).
