About this program

Utah Humanities and the Utah Historical Society jointly fund the Oral History Grants program, providing awards up to $3,000 to support the collection, transcription, and public dissemination of oral histories statewide, with recordings and transcripts deposited in the Utah Historical Society collections or other public repositories. Grants cover research, interviews, and transcription costs and require projects to be completed within 12 months (extensions may be requested). Projects must involve an oral history scholar—UHS can provide recommendations—and include at least one public program to share collected material with the community. Applications follow quarterly draft and final deadlines, with staff technical assistance provided within three weeks of draft submission and awards typically announced about two weeks after committee review.
