About this program

The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) Greater Opportunity Fund provides fully funded two-week residencies for writers, visual artists, and composers who self-identify as people of color, covering a private studio and bedroom with en-suite bath, three prepared meals daily, and access to the resident community. The program offers significant financial assistance, flexible year‑round scheduling, and residencies of up to two weeks (custom lengths possible), primarily for first‑time VCCA Fellows. Eligible applicants are artists making original work in the literary, visual, or musical/sound arts who self‑identify as people of color; apply via VCCA’s website and observe annual deadlines—May 15 (spring), Sept. 15 (summer), and Jan. 15 (fall).
