Virtual Event Grant (Design History Society)

About this program

The Design History Society offers the Virtual Event Grant (total £1,000 awarded annually and divided among multiple meritorious projects) to fund virtual initiatives that promote interaction, debate and research in design history while increasing access and transnational dialogue with reduced environmental impact. Projects should ideally be recorded and permanently archived on DHS virtual platforms (e.g., Spotify, blog, Instagram, YouTube) and are judged on originality, significance to design history, global collaboration impact, clear objectives and implementation, technical and archival feasibility, dissemination plans, and value for money; unsuitable costs include travel, accommodation, purchase of physical equipment, subsistence, and hiring others to conduct research. Eligible applicants must be members of the DHS (one application per person per calendar year); applications are anonymised and reviewed by Executive Board members, and recipients must provide a 500–800 word report with a copyright‑free image within six months, acknowledge DHS with the Society’s logo, and notify DHS of any project changes for approval.
