Vivian Shipley Poetry Award (poetry contest)

About this program

Connecticut Poetry Society offers the annual Vivian Shipley Poetry Award, an open contest that awards $1,000 first prize (plus a one-year CPS membership), $100 second, and $50 third, with the three winning poems published in Connecticut River Review and posted on the society’s website. The contest is open to all poets and accepts only electronic submissions via Submittable; entrants may submit up to three poems in a single file and must pay a $15 reading fee. Poem files must be free of identifying information (entrant details are collected separately through Submittable), AI-created work is ineligible, and the contest runs annually from August 1–September 30.
