Warhol Curatorial Research Fellowships

About this program

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts offers Curatorial Research Fellowships awarding up to $50,000 to support research and development for exhibitions or other visual-arts initiatives expected to manifest at least two years after the grant. Grants cover research-stage expenses such as travel, convenings and honoraria, research assistance, recording/transcription/translation, and acquisition of publications, but may not be used for salary replacement or course release and budgets must reflect actual research costs. Proposals must be submitted by a U.S. 501(c)(3) arts organization on behalf of a curator at any career stage (with or without institutional affiliation) and include a letter of support from the sponsoring organization’s director. Strong applications situate the project within historical and contemporary art discourse, focus on understudied or experimental practices and artists, and align with the Foundation’s priority to highlight underrepresented practitioners.
