Warhol Project Grants for Small-Scale Organizations

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts offers Project Grants for Small-Scale Organizations to fund experimental, temporary visual-arts projects (e.g., exhibitions, installations, screenings, residencies, artist-led interventions) produced by U.S.-based nonprofit arts organizations. Eligible applicants must be U.S. nonprofits with total annual operating budgets of $200,000 or less; grants range from $20,000–$30,000 and are intended to cover direct project costs and support artist risk-taking rather than institutional or community impact; youth-focused projects or projects where visual art is not central are ineligible. Proposals (maximum three pages) must include project dates, venue, artist names and descriptions, curator/organizer names, a one-year operating budget, a project budget detailing direct costs (artist fees, production, outreach), and the organization's 501(c)(3) statement; the Foundation does not require work samples initially. Applications are reviewed twice yearly (deadlines March 1 and Sept. 1); spring awards must begin no earlier than July 1 (fall awards no earlier than Jan 1), projects should conclude within one year, and successful recipients must wait one year after final reporting before reapplying.
