Warren Washington Lifetime Achievement Award for Advancing Inclusive Science Excellence

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) presents the Warren Washington Lifetime Achievement Award for Advancing Inclusive Science Excellence to recognize senior scientists whose career-long development of programs, systems, or networks has measurably advanced diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Earth and space sciences. The honor includes a $10,000 prize, a custom engraved award, recognition and complimentary registration to AGU’s annual meeting in the award year, two hotel nights, and Honors Banquet tickets. Nominees must be experienced senior scientists and established leaders; peer or self-nominations are allowed but nominators must be active AGU members, and all parties must comply with AGU’s conflict-of-interest and professional conduct policies. Candidates are evaluated on sustained impact in reducing structural barriers and advancing DEI scholarship, pedagogy, policy, practice and outreach, innovation, leadership/mentorship, international and cross-Union impact, and alignment with AGU strategy; submissions are accepted 5 January–2 March (contact honors@agu.org).
