William Kaula Award

About this program

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) offers the William Kaula Award, presented biennially in even-numbered years to recognize unselfish service and extraordinary dedication to AGU’s publications program, including editorial leadership, policy development, and mentoring. Nominees are evaluated on the quality and impact of their work, its reach to broad or traditionally underrepresented audiences, and the originality/innovative nature of their contributions; the honor includes a $1,000 prize, an engraved award, recognition at AGU’s annual meeting, and two Honors Reception tickets. Peer or self-nominations are permitted (nominators/co-nominators must be active AGU members), all parties must comply with AGU’s ethics/conflict-of-interest and professional conduct policies, and eligible candidates span early, middle, and experienced career stages; the submission window is noted as 5 January–2 March.
