Wing Ip Medal — Award for unselfish cooperation and leadership in geoscience in the Asia Oceania region

About this program

Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) awards the Wing Ip Medal to recognize unselfish cooperation and leadership in geoscience across the Asia–Oceania region; the medal is presented at the AOGS Annual General Meeting and the recipient receives a fixed USD 2,500 reimbursement package and exemption from the meeting registration fee. Candidates must be nominated by others (self-nomination is not permitted) and submitted online via the MARS system. Required nomination materials are a ≤2-page nomination letter demonstrating outstanding cooperation and leadership, a ≤2-page selected publications list, an approximately 2-page curriculum vitae, and three supporting reference letters (with letters from outside the nominee’s home country required to demonstrate wide international recognition). Nomination packages may be retained for up to three years and are evaluated on sustained international leadership, mentoring, fostering of collaboration, society engagement, and dissemination of geoscience knowledge.
