About this program

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) offers the NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) fellowship to investigate the evolutionary paths leading to the emergence of coded protein synthesis, focusing on the genetic code's molecular components and simpler forms. This research encompasses experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches to understand the evolutionary advantages of translation systems in protocellular contexts. Eligibility is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, foreign nationals eligible for J-1 visa status, and certain asylees or refugees with valid documentation, all of whom must hold a doctoral degree. Selected fellows receive travel funds to attend astrobiology conferences as part of the program.
