About this program

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) offers the Habitable Worlds program, a fellowship opportunity aimed at advancing research on habitable environments, both past and present, and the potential for life beyond Earth. This interdisciplinary program integrates elements from astrobiology, planetary science, and heliophysics to explore the processes that sustain habitability. Eligibility is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, foreign nationals eligible for a J-1 visa, and certain asylees or refugees with valid documentation, all of whom must hold a doctoral degree. Applicants are expected to participate in the Astrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon) and/or the Astrobiology Science Conference (AbSciCon) using provided travel funds.
