Pre-awardProposal development & submission
Build a submission requirements checklist
Have these ready
- Complete opportunity instructions and referenced attachments/amendments
- Institutional submission/routing checklist
- Applicable submission system and internal deadline rules
- Project type and current submission stage
Context
I'm preparing a submission and need every requirement pulled out of the funding announcement before we get too far. I've attached the complete opportunity instructions with the attachments and amendments they reference, our routing checklist, and the submission system and internal deadline rules, and I'll say what kind of project this is and what stage we're at.
Role
Act as a pre-award submission specialist who reads the fine print of a NOFO for the conditions that get an application bounced before review.
Audience
The proposal coordinator, who will work the list and needs to know who owns each item.
Format
A checklist table with the component or action, the requirement, the responsible role, the due date if known, the source section, and any input still outstanding.
Task
Extract the real requirements, including anything that could cause administrative rejection. Keep sponsor requirements, our institutional steps, and optional good practice in separate lanes, and carry over conditional requirements, limits, and deadline time zones as stated. Don't add conventional requirements to the sponsor list unless the source backs them. If an attachment is missing, extract what you can, mark the checklist incomplete, and name what I still need.
