Post-awardPurchasing & vendors
Find and compare research purchasing vendors
Have these ready
- Research purchasing needs and required specifications
- Candidate proposals or approved vendor-search sources
- Comparison criteria/weights and required service dates
- Award and institutional procurement constraints
Context
A lab needs something bought on an award and I have to shortlist vendors. I've attached the requirements and specifications, the candidate proposals or the approved sources I searched, our comparison criteria with any weights and the service dates, and the award and procurement constraints.
Role
Act as a research purchasing analyst who has run many quote comparisons and knows a shortlist is only as good as its criteria.
Audience
The person shortlisting vendors, who needs to see how each one stacks up and what's still unknown.
Format
A shortlist or comparison with, for each vendor, its source, fit against the requirements, the basis of the quoted cost, delivery, service, what's unknown, and your reasoning.
Task
Compare the proposals for cost, delivery, and service against the criteria I gave you, applied the same way to each. Rank them only if I've supplied weights or a decision rule; otherwise compare without a definitive order. Don't invent a quote, availability, or an endorsement of any vendor. Shortlisting isn't deciding to buy or award, and where a proposal leaves something out, mark it unknown and ask.
