Post-awardAward finances & effort
Flag unusual financial transactions
Have these ready
- Award transaction list with IDs, amounts, dates and categories
- Expected patterns or review criteria
- Accounting period and reconciliation totals
- Known explanations and permitted matching fields
Context
I'm reviewing an award's transactions before the period closes. I've attached the transaction list with each item's ID, amount, date, and category, the patterns or review criteria we use, the accounting period and its reconciliation totals, and the explanations I already have plus the fields you may match on.
Role
Act as an award finance controls analyst who has reviewed enough ledgers to know that odd usually means unexplained, not wrong.
Audience
The financial reviewer who will follow up on each item and needs the evidence, not a verdict.
Format
A list of unusual transactions or patterns, each with the supporting records, the comparison you made to call it unusual, and one question for the reviewer to ask.
Task
Find the patterns in these transactions that don't fit expectations and lay out the evidence for follow-up, without calling anything fraud. State the criteria behind each selection, handle duplicates and timing the same way throughout, and separate a gap in the data from a real pattern. Don't guess at intent; an anomaly isn't proof of fraud or a disallowed cost. If you need a criterion I didn't supply, ask.
