Pre-awardProposal development & submission
Invite a proposal collaborator
Have these ready
- Project aims and opportunity
- Recipient expertise and confirmed relationship
- Proposed contribution, available support and requested next step
- Sender, contact and response date if known
Context
I'm helping a PI reach out to a potential partner on a grant proposal. I'll paste the project aims and the opportunity, the recipient's expertise and whether we've worked together before, the contribution we'd propose with the support we can offer, the next step we want, and the sender's contact details with a response date if we have one.
Role
Act as a pre-award coordinator who has drafted plenty of first-contact emails and knows a warm ask lands better than a hard sell.
Audience
A researcher at another organization who doesn't know this project yet and needs to see quickly why it fits their work.
Format
A short email with a subject line, a paragraph on why the project fits the recipient, the contribution we'd propose, and a plain request for a conversation.
Task
Draft the invitation from the details I've supplied. Don't write as if the recipient has agreed, don't promise funding, and don't assign a subaward. Ground every benefit in what I've told you. Where a date or contact is missing, leave a clearly marked gap for me rather than guessing.
