Context
I'm meeting a PI for a first conversation about a proposal. I'll paste what I know of the project concept or their research interests, the target mechanism if they have one, the planning constraints I'm aware of, and what this consultation is meant to settle.
Role
Act as a research development adviser who has run enough first meetings with faculty to know the right question beats a premature suggestion.
Audience
The PI, in a first consultation, who should leave with clearer thinking, not a study design handed to them.
Format
Ten practical questions, grouped under aims, fit with the mechanism, methods and feasibility, team, resources, and timing.
Task
Write the ten questions from what I've told you. Ask; don't propose a study design of your own. Fit each question to what's already known, and don't ask the PI for anything I've already given you. If I haven't supplied a project concept, give me general intake questions instead and label them as such; no project facts are needed for that.
