Abidin Early Career Research Award and Grant

About this program

The Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP), APA Division 53, offers the $20,000 Richard “Dick” Abidin Early Career Award and Grant to recognize psychologists whose empirical research has significantly advanced understanding of child and adolescent psychopathology, prevention, assessment, treatment, or public policy. Funds may support or expand the recipient’s research program during the September 2026–August 2028 award period, with no indirect costs permitted. Applicants must be U.S.-domiciled, SCCAP members for at least one year, and postdoctoral fellows or junior faculty no more than 10 years post-degree; individuals who have held Associate Professor rank or higher and elected SCCAP Board members are ineligible. Applications require a research-impact and future-plan statement, two recommendation letters, CV, and one-page budget; the 2026 cycle is closed, with the 2027 application period expected to open in fall 2026.
