Academic Transition Grant

About this program

The SIR Foundation offers up to $35,000 for a 12-month Academic Transition Grant supporting pilot or seed research that advances interventional radiology and helps investigators establish independent research programs. Eligible applicants must be full-time faculty at accredited U.S. or Canadian institutions, have five or fewer years in academia, no other research funding, an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent degree, and active SIR membership. Applicants must be over 40, have at least three years of private or nonacademic practice, demonstrate a commitment to transitioning those skills into research and academia, and be U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents; applications are due January 15, 2027, at 5:00 p.m. EST.
