Academic Transition Grant

About this program

The SIR Foundation offers the one-year Academic Transition Grant, providing up to $35,000 to help interventional radiologists establish an independent research record and transition successfully from private practice to academia. Applications are due January 15, 2027, at 5 p.m. ET; institutional indirect, construction, secretarial, and office expenses are not supported. Eligible applicants must be full-time faculty at accredited U.S. or Canadian institutions, have been in academia for five years or less, lack other external research funding, hold an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent degree, and be active SIR members. Applicants must also be U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or meet specified visa requirements, and demonstrate a commitment to applying private-practice experience to academic research.
