Action Teaching Grants

About this program

The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) offers annual Action Teaching Grants of $100–$1,500 (up to three awards per year) to support development, enhancement, or assessment of innovative action‑teaching classroom activities, student assignments, field experiences, or web‑based resources. Eligibility is limited to regular dues‑paying SPSSI members, including graduate students (non‑members may apply by submitting a membership application with their proposal); applications are due April 30 each year and decisions are communicated by May 30. Proposals are judged on originality, feasibility, teaching effectiveness, and potential social impact and must include the SPSSI application form, CV, a 75–150 word abstract, and a project description (maximum six double‑spaced pages) that addresses student learning outcomes, broader societal contribution, assessment methods, justification for funding, and a detailed budget; online submission is preferred.
