About this program

ACVS Foundation Research Grant Programs (Diplomate and Surgery Resident tracks) fund one‑year surgery-related projects that advance evidence-based surgical care, offering up to $20,000 per award and a foundation goal of $200,000 in annual funding. Applications are accepted online in January and must be received by January 15, 2026 (11:59 pm ET) for 2026 funding; decisions are reviewed by the ACVS Research Committee and Board of Regents with notifications by May 1. Principal investigators must be ACVS Diplomates (Diplomate track) or surgery residents in the first two years of an ACVS‑registered residency (resident track), complete the Research Grant Application Workshop and submit the CE certificate dated no later than January 8, and may submit only one application per funding cycle. Award funds cover direct project expenses only (travel, consultative fees, publication fees, personnel, institutional overhead and other indirect costs are ineligible); funded investigators must submit annual progress reports by April 1 and submit manuscripts to a refereed journal within one year of project completion.
