About this program
The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) offers one‑year Well-Being in FTD Pilot Grants of $110,000 USD (up to $10,000 may be used for indirect costs) to support novel, translational seed projects that improve the well‑being, diagnosis, care, support, and research participation of persons with frontotemporal degeneration, their families, and caregivers. Applicants must hold a faculty appointment or equivalent at a nonprofit/academic research institution (U.S. and international investigators eligible); postdoctoral fellows may not serve as PIs unless they can confirm a faculty appointment beginning by the award start (April 2027), and early‑career investigators or those pursuing new directions are especially encouraged to apply. The 2027 cycle is expected to open ~August 2026 with a November 2026 deadline, notifications in March 2027, and awards starting April 2027; apply via the AFTD submission portal and note that proposals already supported by substantial funding in the proposed area are unlikely to be competitive.
