Agouron Institute Funding for Regional Geobiology Meetings

About this program

Agouron Institute, via the GSA Geobiology & Geomicrobiology Division, provides $3,000–$8,000 awards to support established regional geobiology meetings in the U.S., covering direct meeting expenses such as facility rental, food/beverage, poster boards, printing, prizes, souvenirs, and student/postdoc travel fellowships; indirect costs are not permitted. Funding is restricted to a designated network of listed regional meetings and proposals must be submitted by the student- and postdoc-organizing committee with a faculty PI mentor and an institutional PI to accept funds. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis via the GBGM Agouron Proposals Google Form (notify Ana Gonzalez‑Nayeck, Trinity Hamilton, and David Gold) and must include organizer names, faculty mentor, meeting goals/history, expected attendance, dates/location, format/schedule, poster/prize plans, meeting website (if any), and an itemized budget showing other funding sources. Organizers should submit after confirming other support and, if awarded, have an authorized institutional officer complete award acceptance and payment details and provide a final schedule or abstract booklet to GBGM.
