AHA Research Grants and Annual Meeting Grants

About this program

The American Historical Association (AHA) awards a range of research grants, fellowships, and annual meeting grants to advance historical scholarship and support participation in the field; allowable expenses include travel to archives, microfilming/photocopying, hiring researchers, access fees, and other documented research costs (childcare may be eligible). Named research awards cover areas such as European, African, and Asian history, Western Hemisphere and colonial American history, U.S. legal history, and LGBTQ+ history. Eligibility requires AHA membership for research grants; annual meeting grants target graduate students, early-career or un/underemployed historians, and community college and public high‑school teachers and require AHA membership plus registration for the meeting.
