AHS Research, Dissemination, Public Outreach, and Exhibition Grants

About this program

The Agricultural History Society (AHS) awards eight annual grants of $1,500 each to support research, dissemination, public outreach, and exhibition projects that advance scholarship in the history of agriculture and rural life. Awards are allocated by career category—two each for Graduate Students, Early Career, and Independent/Contingent Scholars, one for Senior Career, and one for Public History projects—and are adjudicated by an AHS committee. Applicants must be AHS members at the time of application, may apply to only one eligible career category per year (retired members are ineligible), and recipients must permit Agricultural History first right of refusal for resulting article-length manuscripts and submit a short online essay or research update within 18 months. Applications are due September 15 (awards announced by December 15) and require a single PDF emailed to aghistorysociety@gmail.com containing a two-page CV (per applicant/team member), a 3–4 page narrative (max 1,250 words) identifying the category and dissemination plan, and a one-page budget formatted with one-inch margins, 12 pt Times New Roman, double-spaced.
