American-Australian Arts Fund Indigenous Scholarships

About this program

The American Australian Association’s American‑Australian Arts Fund provides scholarships for emerging Indigenous artists to undertake study or artistic development exchanges between Australia and the United States, offering Indigenous Arts Grants up to US$10,000 (one recipient each direction) and Arts Fund grants up to US$5,000 to cover travel, tuition, living and other artistic development costs. Applications are accepted in two annual rounds (Jan 1–Mar 31 and Aug 1–Sep 30). Eligible applicants are emerging Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander artists (for AUS→USA) and Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian artists (for USA→AUS) who are citizens or permanent residents (dual citizens excluded), are recognized members of their Indigenous community, and hold a formal offer for the host‑country course/project (or are no more than 75% through it if already in the host country). Required materials include a headshot, 1–2 minute video, passport biographic page, community confirmation of Indigenous identity, transcripts (if applicable), a one‑page résumé, portfolio, a detailed budget (Arts Fund template) and three letters of recommendation; inquiries to scholarships@americanaustralian.org.
