About this program

The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America offers the American Indian Medical Scholarship to support American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students pursuing careers in nursing, healthcare, or health education, particularly those planning to serve Native communities. Awards provide $1,500 per semester for tuition and academic expenses for up to eight semesters, contingent on continued academic standing. Applicants must demonstrate tribal enrollment or direct ancestry, financial need, enrollment in an accredited professional health program, and a healthcare career focus serving Native populations; counselor, teacher, or school-official recommendation is required. New applicant deadlines are July 1 and November 1, while renewal deadlines are June 15 and October 15.
