The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation provides grants to support arts and culture, higher learning, humanities in place, public knowledge, and Presidential Initiatives that advance a more connected, creative, and just society—particularly work that lifts up historically underserved and overlooked communities. Funding is directed toward projects and organizations that strengthen cultural and scholarly infrastructure, public-facing knowledge access, and community-centered storytelling. Eligible applicants are organizations or initiatives whose proposals demonstrably align with the Foundation’s core grantmaking areas and strategies; prospective applicants should review the Foundation’s grantmaking process for specific program guidelines and application procedures.
