Annie Jump Cannon Award in Astronomy

About this program

Offered by the American Astronomical Society, the Annie Jump Cannon Award in Astronomy recognizes outstanding research and promise for future research by a postdoctoral woman astronomer and includes a $1,500 honorarium plus an invited AAS meeting talk with travel expenses paid. Eligible nominees are women who are residents of North America (including Hawaii and Puerto Rico) or members of a North American institution stationed abroad, and who earned a PhD within five years of the award announcement (documented family or medical leave may extend eligibility). Self-nominations are accepted and the nomination package must include a five-year research plan; nominations are due 30 June and questions may be directed to the AAS Secretary.
