Annual Meeting Travel Grants (AMS)

About this program

The American Musicological Society offers Annual Meeting Travel Grants to help AMS members and eligible scholars with little or no financial support attend the Society’s in-person annual meeting (2025 joint AMS–SMT meeting: Minneapolis, MN, Nov 6–9, 2025); awards provide up to $350 for travel within North America and up to $500 for travel from outside North America. A supplemental $500 grant is available to current undergraduate and terminal master’s (MA, MFA, MM) students enrolled at U.S. or Canadian universities—bringing a North America student total to $850—and AMS will assist supplemental recipients in securing accommodations; grants do not cover the meeting registration fee. Eligible applicants include AMS members (including graduate students) and non‑affiliated scholars; supplemental student applicants need not be AMS members, funds are awarded on a first‑come, first‑served basis, applicants may apply to multiple AMS travel programs but may receive only one award (the larger if selected for two), and preference is given to those not funded the prior year.
