AOS Travel Grants (American Ornithological Society)

About this program

The American Ornithological Society offers Travel Grants to help students, post‑doctoral scholars, and those between degree programs defray expenses to attend AOS meetings across three categories: General Travel Grants (students & postdocs), Expanding Opportunities grants (for individuals facing participation barriers or who promote inclusion), and Latin America & Caribbean grants (for applicants from, residing, or studying in that region). Applicants must submit an abstract as the presenter for an oral talk or poster and provide the abstract submission number on their travel grant application; meeting attendance is required to pick up the award. Eligible applicants include current students (including up to one semester post‑graduation), students between degree programs who intend to re‑enter a program, and postdocs; students need not be AOS members to apply but general-grant student grantees must join to receive funds, whereas postdocs must be AOS members when applying; Expanding Opportunities and Latin American & Caribbean grants do not require membership. Grants are reimbursed (expenses paid by recipients first), allowable costs vary by category (general grants cover travel only; Expanding and Latin grants may cover lodging, registration and meals with published per diem limits), applicants are responsible for visa arrangements if required, and applications must be submitted via the Travel Grant Submission Portal by the meeting deadlines.
