APNA Research Grants

About this program

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) Research Grants program awards $1,000–$10,000 to early-career psychiatric-mental health nurse investigators for research studies or evidence-based practice/quality-improvement projects that advance psychiatric-mental health nursing. Priority is given to proposals with strong scientific merit that address APNA focus areas such as shared decision-making, diversity/equity/access, integrated holistic care across the lifespan, innovative nursing interventions, or workforce/workplace issues. Applicants must be current APNA members who are licensed registered nurses focused on psychiatric-mental health, be early in their scholarly careers with no prior major intra- or extramural funding, and may submit master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, or DNP projects with committee approval. Applications are submitted online (deadline May 20; preliminary review encouraged by April 24), require IRB approval prior to release of funds, and will undergo anonymized peer review.
