About this program

The Open Space Institute (OSI) has launched the Appalachian Landscapes Protection Fund, an $18 million initiative to safeguard over 65,000 acres of vital landscapes in the Appalachian Mountain region. Grants support land acquisition or permanent conservation easements, prioritizing ecosystem resilience and forest carbon storage to combat severe weather impacts. Eligible applicants include qualified not-for-profit conservation organizations, federally and state-recognized Tribes, government entities, and municipalities, with preference given to accredited or accreditation-seeking land trusts. While the fund is no longer accepting proposals, inquiries can be directed to regional OSI staff.
