Archaeological Field School Scholarships

About this program

The Archaeological Institute of America offers $2,000 scholarships to support students undertaking their first archaeological field school experience, with projects lasting at least four weeks. Awards include the Jane C. Waldbaum, Laura Obolensky (eligible countries specified), and American School of Prehistoric Research scholarships, and may help cover participation-related expenses. Applicants must be at least 18, enrolled at a U.S. or Canadian college or university, have completed at least two years of college coursework, be entering their junior year through first-year graduate study, and have no prior archaeological fieldwork experience. Applications, including transcripts, two academic references, a brief essay, project details, and an expense plan, are due online by March 1, 2027.
