ASIS&T New Leaders Award (New Leaders Program)

About this program

Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) offers the New Leaders Award to recruit and develop early-career members for leadership by placing awardees with a Chapter, SIG, or volunteer leader and providing mentors; the award covers Annual Meeting registration (excluding tutorials/workshops/special events) and up to $500 in travel support, with attendance at the Annual Meeting required. Eligible applicants must be current ASIS&T members in good standing for no more than four years, must not have previously held leadership positions or served on committees, and must commit to a full year in the program (with an optional second consecutive year, maximum two years total). Applications submitted via the ASIS&T online portal must include a current CV, one letter of reference from another ASIS&T member, and a statement (≤1,000 words) addressing prior ASIS&T involvement, leadership experience/qualities, reasons for participation, and top three placement preferences. A jury scores and discusses applications (up to eight awards per year); key dates include Jury Appointment: March 15, Submission Deadline: April 1, Selection Deadline: May 15, and Unit/Mentor Assignment Deadline: September 1.
