ASN-AMFDP Four-Year Postdoctoral Research Award

About this program

The American Society of Nephrology, in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program (AMFDP), offers four‑year postdoctoral research awards to increase diversity among future leaders in nephrology by supporting research and career development of scholars from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. Awards provide an annual stipend of up to $75,000 plus $30,000 per year for research activities, require at least 70% protected research effort, and expect scholars to work with a senior faculty mentor at an academic medical center (scholars must identify their mentor). Eligible applicants are physicians from historically marginalized backgrounds who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients at the time of application and who are completing or have completed formal clinical training. Applications are submitted through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s application system, with applicants able to identify themselves under the ASN‑AMFDP partnership; contact AMFDP or ASN (grants@asn-online.org) with eligibility questions.
