ASPT CVD Award - Congressional Visits Day Travel Grant

About this program

The American Society of Plant Taxonomists (ASPT) Environment and Public Policy Committee offers the annual ASPT CVD Award to cover registration for one early-career botanist to attend the virtual Congressional Advocacy Event hosted by the Biological and Ecological Sciences Coalition, which includes AIBS-led policy and communications training and arranged online meetings with lawmakers; awardees are featured in the Plant Science Bulletin and on the Botanical Society of America web page. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and ASPT members, with preference given to those in the first two years of a permanent position, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate or undergraduate students. Apply by emailing a single PDF (maximum two pages, single spaced) that lists name, career stage, affiliation, and email; explains your interest in public policy and how attending CVD will impact your career; and provides an example of botanically related, in‑state research that demonstrates the benefits of federal funding. Recipients are expected to submit a summary of their experience for publication.
