About this program
The Kyriacos and Kiley Athanasiou Endowment within the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) sponsors the Athanasiou Student and Post-Doc Awards to recognize and promote outstanding biomedical engineering scholarship by honoring the top papers published in the Annals of Biomedical Engineering (ABME) and to commemorate Dr. Kyriacos Athanasiou’s contributions to the field. Awards highlight excellence among emerging leaders—particularly in areas such as musculoskeletal tissue engineering and technology translation—and recipients are recognized at the BMES Annual Meeting. Eligibility is limited to graduate students and post‑doctoral scholars who are authors of papers published in ABME, with selection made based on the endowment’s criteria for top papers; recipients receive an award and honorarium.
