About this program

Avocado Nutrition Center (ANC) Research Grant Program accepts rolling short letters of intent to fund human clinical trials, epidemiological, computational, meta-analyses and cell-culture studies that evaluate health effects of fresh whole avocados in areas such as cardiovascular health, weight management, healthy aging and type 2 diabetes (ANC does not support animal research or studies of avocado oils/extracts/supplements). Investigators at academic institutions, government agencies, or contract research organizations worldwide may apply; collaborative projects with ANC researchers and secondary analyses of ANC clinical trial data are permitted and may be prioritized for avocado-focused questions. LOIs must be up to 2 pages (single-spaced, 12‑pt) including title, investigators, institution, brief introduction, hypothesis, specific aims, approach, budget and timeline; ANC allows up to 20% PI salary support if justified, indirect costs up to 10% of direct costs, generally does not fund equipment, and has no preset budget or time limits (funding and duration should match the proposed research).
