About this program

The AVS Electronic Materials & Photonics Division offers annual awards — Early Career Researcher, Rising Mid‑Career, and Distinguished Scientist — to recognize excellence and leadership in electronic materials and photonics, plus travel awards to support student and postdoctoral presenters at the International Symposium. Eligibility is career‑stage based (Early Career: ~<10–15 years; Mid‑Career: ~10–25 years; Distinguished: ~>20–25 years), and nominees must be present at the conference ceremony. Nominations require a nominating letter, a letter of support, the nominee’s CV and biography, and a copy of the abstract submitted to the AVS EMPD symposium; travel awards require an accepted abstract and an EMPD presentation. Deadline is annually September 30; submissions and inquiries should be directed to Award Chair Haozhe (Harry) Wang at haozhe.wang@duke.edu.
