About this program

The Michigan Health Endowment Fund offers Behavioral Health grants of up to $750,000 to support projects that improve access to effective mental health and substance use disorder services for Michigan residents, reduce disparities, and strengthen behavioral health system capacity (infrastructure, workforce, technology, and sustainability). Recent grantees include community-based organizations, health systems, academic institutions, tribal organizations, and public agencies, indicating the types of organizations the Fund supports. Applicants must serve Michigan populations and align proposals with the Fund’s priority areas—access/expansion, equity for populations experiencing health disparities, and system strengthening—and should demonstrate implementation capacity, measurable outcomes, and sustainability. Note that beginning in 2027 behavioral health grantmaking will be incorporated as a high-priority focus within the Fund’s Healthy Aging and Healthy Kids programs.
