Beth Holmgren Graduate Student Essay Prize

About this program

The Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) awards the Beth Holmgren Graduate Student Essay Prize for an outstanding graduate essay in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies. The winner receives $300, free roundtrip domestic airfare and accommodations to attend the ASEEES Annual Convention, plus an honorary ASEEES membership for the following year; the prize is presented at the convention. Eligible essays must be written in English by a student enrolled in a graduate program and must be nominated by an ASEEES Regional Affiliate Chair or an Institutional Member representative (students may not self-nominate); Institutional Members may submit one nominee and may hold internal competitions. Submissions (7,500–14,000 words inclusive of notes/bibliography, double-spaced, with footnotes/endnotes) must be uploaded as PDF or Word via the ASEEES nomination form with an abstract and the author’s surname in the file name; the page lists a June 15 deadline.
