BIAA Research Grants (Seed and Dissertation Grants)

About this program

The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) Research Grant Program awards Seed Grants (Young Investigator and Brain Injury Scholar categories) up to $25,000 and Dissertation Grants up to $5,000 to support research aimed at "Finding Cures for Chronic Brain Injury." The 2026 priorities target chronic brain injury topics, including progressive degenerative processes linking injury to neurodegenerative disease, late consequences of childhood TBI, excess mortality after moderate/severe TBI, chronic health-condition management and disease-management protocols, and social determinants of health; proposals focused solely on acute injury are not eligible. Eligible applicants include doctoral candidates (Dissertation Grants), early-career investigators, and experienced principal investigators; applicants must submit a Letter of Interest via the BIAA portal by July 1, 2026 (portal opens May 18, 2026), with invited full proposals due September 16, 2026, and award notifications in January 2027.
