Blavatnik Regional Awards for Young Scientists

About this program

The Blavatnik Regional Awards for Young Scientists, funded by the Blavatnik Family Foundation and administered by the New York Academy of Sciences, recognize outstanding postdoctoral researchers at eligible institutions in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, and Chemical Sciences, awarding three Laureates $30,000 each and six Finalists $10,000 each. Eligible nominees must hold a doctoral degree, be born in or after 1984 (age-exception requests may be considered), and currently occupy a postdoctoral position at an eligible NY/NJ/CT institution conducting research in one of the three disciplinary categories. Each institution may submit up to 15 nominations, which must be submitted by the institution’s president, provost, or official designee (self-nominations are not permitted); selected honorees must attend the awards ceremony in New York City and participate in related media and outreach. The program strongly encourages nominations that increase representation of women, BIPOC individuals, and persons with disabilities in STEM.
